Fire danger remains elevated, hazy skies likely this afternoon
Bend, OR (KTVZ) -
Warm, dry, and breezy conditions continue today which will provide a challenge to firefighters this afternoon. Temperatures are dropping and humidity is expected to increase slightly, but fire danger remains elevated. Winds will gust near 20-25mph again today but the direction is shifting. We’ll see winds blow from out of the northeast which will have fires wanting to grow south-southwest.
Smoke from the Cram Fire just north of Madras will be moved into the 97 corridor due to the change in wind direction. Air quality is good this morning but will worsen through the day. Plan for hazy skies and poor air quality in areas across the Tri-Counties. Smoke will settle overnight so I’d consider shutting your windows tonight.
Highs today are in the low to mid 80s but will jump back into the 90s tomorrow. Temperatures will stay in the 90s for the remainder of the work week.
Continue to practice fire safety, especially as temperatures stay hot and the weather stays dry.
Happy Tuesday. Have a nice day.
